A 'marker' is an object that asks us to pause and pay attention.
'marker of life: ancient voices' is the largest in my series of markers; it asks us to pay attention to the interdependence of organic systems supporting life on our planet; from the bottom up: oceans, flora, fauna, humans, atmosphere, sun and moon.
The form and dimensions reference male and female aspects of the human body; the mouths tell stories about the past, warning us perhaps...
'marker' is made of stoneware, the segments are hollow and glazed in different colors on the inside.
